Originally from Setauket, New York, John Pierce is an active performer on both acoustic bass and trombone. He came to Boston in 1978 to study trombone at Berklee College of Music and earned his Masters of Music from New England Conservatory in 2001, in Jazz Studies, Performance on acoustic bass.

As a free-lance bassist, John has performed with various artists including Herb Pomeroy, John LaPorta, Dick Johnson, Joe Beck and various groups in the New England area. Bandleader/bassist for John Pierce trio and quartets at All Seasons Table restaurant in Malden, MA and in various other venues in the Boston area. As a trombonist, John has performed with artists including Lou Rawls, Tony Bennett, Cab Calloway, Gladys Knight and the White Heat Swing Orchestra.

A Professor at Berklee for the past 30 years, John teaches ensembles and ear training. He has also performed in concerts and clinics in Japan, Germany, Greece, Israel, Finland, Brazil, Costa Rica, Barbados and the British Virgin Islands. He has regularly been a featured artist at the Cool Jazz Series in St. Lawrence Gap, Barbados and is also one of the directors of the Berklee Summer Performance Program.
